Coffee Brew Guide

There are numerous ways to brew coffee, and no one way is best. We strongly encourage you to try a variety of methods to see the difference in brew style and bring some fun in the process. Each method is unique and can bring out the different nuances to the same coffee. Experiment and find out which method appeals to you the most and have fun!

Standard guidelines that apply to most of the brew methods:

  1. Remember 99% of coffee is water !! Good quality water is critical to a good cup of coffee. Filtered or bottled water is ideal. Avoid brewing with distilled/reverse osmosis water because the lack of minerals can result in a flat tasting coffee.
  2. Always grind beans just before you brew ! Go with a burr grinder. While not cheap, burr grinders make all the difference in aroma and taste.
  3. Keep brewing equipment clean to avoid that old stale coffee smell.
  4. Water temperature should be between 90 – 94 C, never boiling
  5. Use a digital scale to measure the coffee and water for a proper ratio. A good starting point is 60 grams of ground, for every litre of water . Adjust this ratio according to your preference.
  6. Flush the brewing device and cup with hot water before and after brewing.
